Language Grinder ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Language Grinder mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and an encrypted password. If you sign in with a third-party provider (e.g., Google or Apple), we receive your name and email address from that provider.

Learning Data

We store vocabulary items you add, study session records, grammar lesson progress, drill mastery data, spaced repetition schedules, streak information, and language preferences. This data is essential to providing the Service.

Usage & Analytics Data

We collect anonymized usage analytics (e.g., screens visited, features used, session duration) to improve the Service. This data is processed by PostHog and cannot be used to personally identify you.

Purchase Information

If you subscribe to Language Grinder Pro, purchase transactions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Stripe (web). We do not store your payment card details. We receive subscription status and expiration dates via RevenueCat to manage your entitlements.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the Service
• To sync your learning data across devices via our cloud backend
• To manage your subscription and premium features
• To improve and optimize the Service through analytics
• To communicate with you about your account or the Service (e.g., password resets, critical updates)

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase — Cloud database, authentication, and data storage
• RevenueCat — Subscription and in-app purchase management
• PostHog — Privacy-friendly product analytics
• Apple App Store / Stripe — Payment processing

Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely on Supabase servers. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS) and at rest. Authentication tokens are stored securely in your device's keychain. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it. Anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Export your learning data
• Withdraw consent for analytics at any time

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
